Submitted MIT Sloan application

I submitted MIT Sloan application. Last days were crunch time, with me chasing the recommenders and working on the essays. One pleasant thing that I found was my first drafts for new essays were more focussed and required less review to make it to final shape. It were my old essays, which took a longer time.

MIT app system (applyyourself.com) had a snafu in the morning, and apparently Sloan has extended the deadline by another day.

I hope to do a better job for Kellogg which is due by Nov 9th. I have postponed Michigan to Round 2, since it had many new essays, and I need more time for that.

I am planning for Round 2 : Michigan, Stanford and Berkeley. Lets see how things shape up.

I recieved an reminder from Michigan to send in my application. From past experience I understand this is pretty much the automated stuff, which might have got triggered due to completion of my interview.

Nevertheless, I am working towards finishing my essays over the weekend.

Michigan Interview

I had an michigan interview recently. The interview left a very positive feeling about Michigan and my desire to join a general management course. By virtue of having sat in some of the business classes, I have improved my understanding of what I am looking for in an MBA program. For example : I find diversity is not an name-sake mantra, but truely adds value to the discussion.

The interviewer was very kind and shared his email with me for me to ask further questions.

I have also come to realize that now when I look at my last year essays , I can tear them apart and remove the unwanted portions very easily. this is partially because I didnt see them for long and also because of my increased business exposure at work and in classrooms.

Round 1 application updates

I am making slow progress on the essays. Its time to up the ante. Finally decided to reduce my work involvement from 80 hour weekdays/weekends to 60 hours. Cant afford to loose the precious application time.

I have a Michigan interview this week and I am spending my time preparing for it.
