Merry Christmas ( Belated) and Happy New Year

Wish you all a happy new year!!

My travel and visit to small towns with unreliable network links makes my updates less frequent. I am working on getting a decent draft of Michigan Essays. The new set of essays were very different and I am writing new stories this year.

Holiday Plans

I will be going off on vacation for next 1 week. After that I will be travelling. I hope to wind up all my applications early January and sit tight.

My blogging will be less frequent, as I will be infrequent in checking mails.

Happy Holidays

Stanford

Among the round 2 applications, I keep wondering if I should apply to stanford. I see slim chance of me making the cut. I notice my GMAT is not so great ( close to 700+). My leadership experiences are close to the average( based on my feedback last year).

However, I like the Stanford essays a lot. They make me think a lot, and it is like writing my autobiography . If not for anything else, let me write the Stanford application to know more about myself. :)

MBAInsider

MBAInsider has some nice collection of sample essays. Also, they had the set of latest chat with the Admissions Directors from most of the top schools.

It would have been nice if they had made this information free to all. I didnt mind paying $30 for this service, but it .....

Submitted Berkeley Application

The usual last minute rush hour for me, and I just submitted my Berkeley application. Feeling a little relaxed.

However, I would like to maintain my momentum in writing, and work on the remaining Michigan, Kellogg and Stanford applications. As a re-applicants I need to re-write a substantial part of my essays.

Today is the deadline for Berkeley essays, and work is on in full swing. Berkeley has a mix of several small and one big essay.

I believe, my essays need atleast 1 or 2 more revisions, so will work late night and submit. Have few hours extra as am in IST time zone

The wait continues

The wait for a Sloan interview invite continues. Will Sloan consider my last year's interview and not call me this year ? Did Sloan invite me last year, just because they had plans for coming to Hub interview last year, and they needed more candidates?

These are some of the unanswered questions. I will let them snooze till 12th Jan.

MIT Sloan news

It has been no news so far. Though there have been invites send out to Indians ( in India) as well, I would rather wait for few more weeks before loosing hope.

HAAS Application

The deadline 12th Dec is fast approaching. I am still working on my essays. I am happy that the rest of my app is nearly complete.

HAAS has an interesting mix of short personal essays + few long professional essays. When the essays are short, one needs to be very crisp. Hope I can bring about enough polish in my current half baked essays.

Kellogg Interview

I had my Kellogg alumni interview over the weekend. The alumni was a 98 batch student and had a similar profile that I intend to have in my career. It was interesting to meet him hence.

The interview went well. At times, I felt I become verbose in answering few questions in my enthusiasm . The interviewer did mention that I had a good chance of making it to some good school.

I did make it a point to address some of the things that werent clear from my last years application in this interview. Looking back, I realize one of the reasons for my waitlist last year , despite the pathetic essays that I submitted was my interview. This years interview was more friendly, but a tone less in terms of the positive vibes I got from my interviewer.

Visitors from *.edu domain

When I check the details of last visitors, I notice couple of hits from *.mit.edu , *.wharton.upenn.edu. Wonder if Adcom can trace who I am. :)

Progress on other applications

Work on Berkeleys application is progressing slowly.
Thanks to my exposure to a lot of writing + business function, I find more focus in by new essays.

I like the Stanford essays the most ( Essay A especially). I am looking forward to the christmas vacation to do a bulk of essay polishing part.

MIT Interview invites continue flowing

Today, saw a spate of new interview invites going. Similar trend was seen just before the Thanksgiving vacation. I am close to 4 weeks since the date my application went complete. So , I am waiting anxiously.

Hope they wouldnt take my last years interview, and make a decision without giving me another chance. :)

All the best to all interviewees. I have posted an document in Business Week forums, which has my collection of information ( from Bweek, personal mails etc) on MIT Sloan interviews which I had gathered last year .

I was surprised that this document getting plagarized by one BWeek readers, along with a hype " about sharing the Sloanie team way". Interesting :).
