Tuesday, July 29, 2003 Kellogg feedback summary Last week, I had my kellogg feedback session. I kept hearing about all the activities - that they were average. Guess, I needed to stand out, being in extremely competitive category. ............. posted by Ravi Trivedi | 9:03 AM | Wednesday, July 23, 2003 Kellogg Feedback Kellogg adcom was kind enough to give a feedback slot , despite I being so late in asking for feedback. I guess, all the adcoms keep some spots for waitlisted applicants. I am eager to know more from the feedback session this week. posted by Ravi Trivedi | 2:06 PM | Tuesday, July 22, 2003 My last post written 2 days back did not make it to the blog :(...(slow connection and all my text is gone). Here is my re-cap. Thank you to all of you who send me good wishes for next year application. The waitlist process was painful. Now the wait is over, and so couple of pending decisions have been made. Since, I had taken a recommendation from my supervisor, few people at work knew about the waitlist. Now that is where it gets tricky. My work assignment was also getting affected and they were eager to know my results. I have started the process for application, and doing basic research about schools again. I have the advantage of understanding the process better, so hopefully I will have my choices made soon. I will definitely have more than 4 schools this time and will include some of the schools that I could not apply due to less time. In the meanwhile, I have requested Kellogg for a feedback session. posted by Ravi Trivedi | 9:20 AM | Saturday, July 12, 2003 The path ahead I got a little breathing space this weekend, so am planning to make my plans for re-application. Some of you have written with regards to advice on how to "game the process". Based on my reflections this week, I should be able to share some of my experiences about schools and the b-school process. As an Indian, I will be giving my view of the picture -- as an international/domestic candidate you could draw your lessons. In the meanwhile, you can join up sept2004intake group at Yahoo. Last year sept2003intake was a great information source to b-school applicant community and had around 1000 subscribers. posted by Ravi Trivedi | 8:16 PM | Thursday, July 10, 2003 Back to the Drawing board After I returned from a hectic travel schedule, I recieved an email from Kellogg adcom .. telling me the sad news... So, thats it for now. Its back to the drawing board for me . posted by Ravi Trivedi | 5:33 PM | Friday, July 04, 2003 The blogging will continue to be less as I am travelling this weekend . posted by Ravi Trivedi | 4:20 PM | Looks like my last post (done over a slow connection) didnt make it to the blogger.. Here it is again Kellogg Updates I plan to send in another update to Kellogg by this weekend. So far the time gap between successive updates has been non uniform. The gap has been {4,5,3} weeks respectively.. ( i.e. between 1st and second update 4 weeks, between 2nd and third 5 weeks}.. Though I know the chances of making it now are slim, but I am still HOPEFUL. posted by Ravi Trivedi | 4:18 PM | Tuesday, July 01, 2003 Some interesting reading : - I have been studying some fundamental accounting recently. Found this article about Accounting Demises by Prof. Volkter of Kellogg. - Basic Accounting tutorial at : http://www.middlecity.com/ch01.shtml posted by Ravi Trivedi | 3:26 PM | Ref : Better Kerry Talk While, I agree that you should be yourself, but knowing what traits are important for a school helps to articulate better. Its like seeing the same event with a lens of teamwork or innovation. For writing essays, when I sat down thinking about incidents, I found that I remembered only significant portions of events. I found that though I was reflective, not all pieces of my essays formed a cohesive story for others to read. At times, it was the gut and sub-concious thoughts that drove me through events. So when I sat down writing about such events I had to think deeper and figure out ways of articulating. Yes, Essay consultants do have an (hidden) agenda, so we should take their advice with a pinch of salt. Overall I have found Sandy's advice nice. Besides on his thread he shares some good articles about whats with the Business School scene posted by Ravi Trivedi | 3:18 PM | |
